Universalized Religions

Explain why places are sacred in universalizing religions? (Examples?)
Places are sacred in universalizing religions because they usually derive from places that where the founder lived, visited, or is buried. These sacred places are also believed to be the locations of where important events of the founders life occurs. One example is the tomb in the center the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem . This is known by Christians as the site where Jesus is thought to be buried and where he resurrected. Another example is the Mosque of the Prophet, in Medina, Saudi Arabia. This mosque is built on the site of Muhammad's house. Muhammad is also buried under the green dome.
